Toeing the line again...

I'm done. My last day of orientation I spent 11 hours working on my online course work stuff. I was all charged up for a tough day when I got in this morning and I didn't even get a patient assignment! There were not enough patients and too many nurses, and we had some new people in for orientation, I guess we were out of preceptors too.

That was good for me, I needed to get some work done since I was so far behind, I never had enough time to do the online stuff because it was shut down when the hospital's license expired in January and I couldn't do it for 6 weeks there until they got their access back.

I think I set an endurance record doing the computer stuff. I did check out a couple of things on the floor, I saw a ventriculostomy in one of the patients, which is a rare occurrence in our hospital now that the neuro ICU is at the new hospital. I almost got to help with a thoracentesis but the doctor decided not to do it at the last minute.

I made it to this point, I can say I survived orientation, and I am going to enjoy my short weekend. Monday I come back and I have to be a real nurse, RN, like they told us in school on the first day, about two years ago...

WAHOO! It's like toeing the starting line of a LONG run after years of training. I can almost hear the starting gun...

Peace, love, & BANG!
